Gladys Porter Zoo hosts discount day for Winter Texans

The Gladys Porter Zoo invites all Rio Grande Valley Winter Texans to ''Winter Texan Discount Day'' on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. while activities and tours start at 10:00 a.m. Winter Texans will be able to enter the Zoo at a discounted rate of $4.50, with proof of out-of-state residence. Free activities, entertainment, refreshments and door prizes will be available in the special events building from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Museums and other organizations from around the Rio Grande Valley will also be present to offer information and giveaways to visiting Winter Texans. Additionally, the Zoo's Docent Council will offer a 2 ½ hour walking tour covering the 27-acres of the grounds, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Zoo's Train will also be running from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., offering visitors a relaxing riding tour of the Zoo; tickets will be available for $2.00.
