DESCRIPTION:The Gladys Porter Zoo invites all Rio Grande Valley Winter Texans to ''Winter Texan Discount Day'' on Wednesday\, February 3rd\, 2010. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. while activities and tours start at 10:00 a.m. Winter Texans will be able to enter the Zoo at a discounted rate of $4.50\, with proof of out-of-state residence.\n\nFree activities\, entertainment\, refreshments and door prizes will be available in the special events building from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Museums and other organizations from around the Rio Grande Valley will also be present to offer information and giveaways to visiting Winter Texans. Additionally\, the Zoo's Docent Council will offer a 2 ½ hour walking tour covering the 27-acres of the grounds\, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Zoo's Train will also be running from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.\, offering visitors a relaxing riding tour of the Zoo\; tickets will be available for $2.00.
