Despierta Brownsville: The Importance of Housing Affordability for Preventing and Ending Homelessness
The Brownsville Chamber of Commerce would like to invite the community to participate in this valuable discussion regarding the Importance of Housing Affordability for Preventing and Ending Homelessness with expert guest speakers Carla Mancha, Chief Executive Officer of the Housing Authority of the City of Brownsville, and Hugo Zurita, Executive Director of the Good Neighbor Settlement House.
This year, the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce's Despierta Brownsville series will tackle community issues impacting the City of Brownsville and what we can do together to combat these issues.
The Housing Authority of the City of Brownsville and the Good Neighbor Settlement House are key pillars in our community working on their mission to assist and advocate for residents facing these issues. During our first Despierta Brownsville session we will be getting a deeper look into these great organization to discuss:
- the available resources and programs
- benefits of housing affordability in our city
- recent reports regarding housing and the homeless population in Brownsville
- and strategies to improve access to affordable housing and prevent homelessness whenever possible
