Gladys Porter Zoo - Zoo Nights & Lights
The Gladys Porter Zoo will be hosting its annual holiday celebration, Zoo Nights and Lights, presented by McDonald’s. This family-friendly event offers holiday spirit and fun for guests of all ages as well as a romantic setting for a date night. Zoo Nights and Lights will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on December 6th, 7th and 8th.
The public is invited to stroll through the Zoo’s pathways filled with brilliant light displays while enjoying live musical and dance performances from talented local groups. Guests can participate in the festivities with Christmas karaoke, cookie decorating and pictures with Santa! Visitors can also find unique holiday gifts for their loved ones at the arts and crafts show and in the Zoo’s newly renovated gift shop.
Adding to the holiday cheer, teams made up of Zoo staff will be competing in a Christmas tree decorating contest, and the public will get to decide the winners. Guests can take a walk through the Zoo’s Christmas Tree Lane to see the beautifully decorated trees and then cast their vote for their favorite.

Fees/Admission
The price of admission for this event is $5.00 per person. Tickets for Zoo Nights and Lights are now available online and at the gate. Zoo members receive free admission to the event with their membership cards. To shorten wait times, members are encouraged to pick up their free tickets in advance at the Membership Office. Guests can also receive free admission by donating a new, unwrapped toy for the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley. The toy must be valued at $5.00 or more—only one free admission will be granted per toy donation.
