Entrepreneurship Training - Financing and Funding

The University of Texas Pan-American Small Business Development Center has partnered with Workforce Solutions Cameron and the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce to present “Make Your Dreams A Reality” Start and Grow your own Business.
Learn how to start, finance, manage and market your own business through the Entrepreneurship Training Project (ETP) which will provide training to eligible individuals to address key entrepreneurial skills and competencies, and will be delivered in a customizable four-track program, to include:
- 10-hour CORE component, delivered in two half-day boot camps. Topics covered: Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Business Ownership, Start-up Steps, Compliance & Legal Issues, Business Planning & Market Feasibility, Business Budgeting & Bookkeeping, Pricing, Small Business Marketing, Communication, Networking & Negotiations.

In addition to classroom training, participants will receive one-on-one follow-up counseling provided by UTPA SBDC, as well as access to essential resources such as market research on relevant industries and competitors and future networking sessions for program graduates.
Eligibility requirements to participate are limited to Texas individuals who have been negatively affected by the economic downturn. To enroll in the ETP, participants must either meet basic WIA Dislocated Worker status (i.e. laid off in distressed industry); be formerly self-employed, now currently unemployed; or be an owner of an existing business negatively affected by the economic downturn.
