The Brownsville Museum of Fine Arts hosts a Masquerade Gala, November 12, in honor of this year's BMFA Distinguised Artist, Gerardo de Leon "Franchute".
Franchute, an established and well missed artist of Matamoros, passed away on January 24, 2010. We are pleased to exhibit a retrospective of his life's work.Tickets are $60 per person and can be purchased in advance or day of at the Brownsville Museum of Fine Arts 6660 E. Ringgold St. (across from the zoo)
Franchute was best known for his figurative paintings and series of work that included his depictions of little Fridas, Harlequins, Matadors, Mimes and Ninas. His paintings can be found all throughout Mexico and the South Texas region and are happily displayed in various venues in Brownsville and the Rio Grande Valley.
