DESCRIPTION:The Texas Historical Commission (THC) is celebrating U.S. Tourism & Travel Rally Day and Preservation Month in Brownsville on May 10\, 2011. Events planned for the day will showcase the outstanding preservation and heritage tourism achievements that have earned Brownsville the 2011 First Lady's Texas Treasures Award\, presented earlier this year by First Lady Anita Perry in partnership with the THC. \n\nPlease join us at 10 a.m. on M...ay 10th to celebrate Brownsville's award with a screening of the film featuring many of the hard working preservationists\, city and county officials and heritage tourism partners that continually save\, restore and maintain the historic integrity of Brownsville's built and natural environment. \n\nAll day on May 10th\, many of the authentic places where learning about historic events is an exciting experience will be hosting special tours and unveiling new tourism products. Spend the day with several of the stars of the film as your guides\, discovering some of Brownsville's unique places and the stories they tell. \n\nMost of all\, appreciate what Brownsville has accomplished through long-term preservation and a most effective heritage tourism infrastructure. Celebrate and support the work and spread the word about the great visitor experience to be enjoyed by residents and happily shared with visitors.
