SUMMARY:''The Games We Used to Play'' a watercolor exhibition by Puente
DESCRIPTION:"The Games We Used to Play" a watercolor exhibition by Puente.\n\nSeptember 22 - October 20\, 2012 \nHistoric Brownsville Museum\, 641 E Madison\, Brownsville TX 78520\n\nOpening Reception: Saturday\, September 22\, 2012 at 6 pm Free admission to the reception.\n\n''The Games We Used to Play'' is a collection of original watercolor paintings that tell of the simpler times when children played in the fields and backyards – a time when technology was not readily available as it is today. This exhibition reintroduces our youth to a history of how their ancestors would pass the time when they were children themselves. In today's age\, where almost every child has access to smart phones\, computers\, and electronic game stations at home\, libraries\, and schools\, it would be easy for a child to not be aware of the way their parents and grandparents used to pass their free time. At ''The Games We Used to Play'' families will have the opportunity to reminisce of older times and perhaps add integral family moments filled with entertaining conversations as the elder retell stories of the way things ‘used to be.' This is an exhibition appropriate for all ages. Bring the students and bring your families!\n\n‘Puente' is a South Texas surrealist artist. Her formal education is from Bellas Artes\, La Esmeralda\, and San Carlos art schools in Mexico City and had the opportunity to attend workshops with the great Mexican Masters Rufino Tamayo and Jose Luis Cuevas. Her works come from dreams\, and the belief in the power of women\, life and nature. Puente can be contacted at puente@lariex.com\n\nThe Historic Brownsville Museum is located at 641 E. Madison St.\, Brownsville. Visit: http://www.brownsvillemuseum.org/
