SUMMARY:Symphony in the Park And All That Jazz - La Bella Noche
DESCRIPTION:Dear Friend of Literacy: \nThe Brownsville Literacy Center Board of Directors and members of the ''Be a Hero'' 2011 Campaign Steering Committee are pleased to announce the 13th annual ''Symphony in the Park & All That Jazz'' on Saturday\, April 16.\nThis is a milestone year for Brownsville Literacy Center\, celebrating a quarter century of dedicated service to our community\, and we plan for this year's symphony to be extra special. As in the past\, Symphony in the Park proudly honors our Literacy Heroes\, the financial contributors to Brownsville Literacy Center's annual ''Be a Hero'' campaign.\nThe 2011 Steering Committee has selected ''La Bella Noche'' as this year's theme to treat the entire family to a musical evening under the stars featuring the romantic sounds of sunny Spain as well as its upbeat\, colorful tempos. Extras this year will include flamenco dancing\, children's activities and a fabulous silent auction.\n''La Bella Noche'' will be held on the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College Student Union lawn\, where concertgoers can picnic and enjoy the sounds of the Rio Bravo Wind Symphony and the One O'Clock Jazz Band featuring UTB/TSC's talented music students. \nSymphony in the Park benefits Brownsville Literacy Center\, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving reading and writing competency in our area. The Literacy Center helps individuals improve their written and verbal communication skills through appropriate and accessible educational programs. \nAll funds raised from the ''Be a Hero'' 2011 campaign will help support programs\, such as the Mobile Learning Lab\, Family Literacy (for preschool-age children and their parents) and English-as-a-Second Language (ESL). \nWe thank you for your continued support of our goal to promote literacy and to provide families in our community the opportunity to succeed.
