SUMMARY:Public Scoping Meeting for SpaceX
DESCRIPTION:LEARN ABOUT SPACEX\, SHOW SUPPORT AT PUBLIC SCOPING MEETING\, MAY 15\n\n\nAs Jon Stewart noted recently on his nationally-televised talk show\, Space Exploration Technology Corp. is one of four entities which have built and launched a rocket into orbit and retrieved it to earth. The other three entities are the United States\, the Soviet Union and China.\n\n\n\nNext\, SpaceX is seeking a location to build a vertical rocket launch site being dubbed a 'Commercial Cape Canaveral' by company founder Elon Musk.\n\n\n\nOne of those options is Brownsville\, Texas\, the southernmost city in the continental United States and an area which once was considered for a launch site by NASA in the late 1950s. The chosen site\, as we all know\, was Cape Canaveral.\n\n\n\nOn April 10\, the Federal Aviation Administration issued a notice of intent to prepare for an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to explore the proposal by SpaceX to launch the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy orbital vertical launch vehicles from a private site and a launch command center near Boca Chica Beach\, outside the eastern city limits of Brownsville.\n\n\n\nThe first EIS Public Scoping Meeting will be May 15 starting with an open house workshop from 5-6 p.m.\, an overview of the environmental process from 6-6:15 p.m. and the public comment period from 6:15-8 p.m. at the center court of the International Technology\, Education\, and Commerce Campus (ITECC)\, 301 Mexico Boulevard.\n\n\n\nWe encourage the community to attend the public scoping meeting to learn about the project first hand from SpaceX. The meeting will also be an opportunity for the community to voice their support in favor of the project. People can already support the project by writing supportive statements to faaspacexeis@cardnotec.com. \n\n\nPlease join us to learn more about the project on May 15 at the ITEC Campus\, 301 Mexico Blvd.\n\n\n\nClick here for "company" letter of support in PDF\n\nClick here for "individual" letter of support in PDF
