DESCRIPTION:The Community Development Corporation of Brownsville (CDCB)\, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development\, Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs and new homeowners\, this week celebrates the completion of four homes as part of CDCB's Self-Help Housing Program.\n\n\n\nA Homeownership Celebration will be held at 10 a.m. Friday\, Aug.10 at 2324 Delia Ave. in Brownsville (Cameron Park). The public is invited to attend. Four families worked together over six months\, sharing labor and skills to successfully complete each other's home.\n\n\n\nThe CDCB Self-Help Housing Program creates homeownership opportunities for families of low and very low incomes. Participating families contribute their labor in building a new home for themselves and other families. The "sweat equity" of each participating family reduced the loan amount for each home by up to $12\,000.
