SUMMARY:Seminar: Healthy Texas Program
DESCRIPTION:You are cordially invited to attend an informational\nFREE Lunch & Learn Presentation about the Healthy Texas Program\n\n\nWithout health insurance through their jobs\, uninsured Texans may lack regular access to health care. Studies have consistently shown that having health insurance leads to healthier lives.\nHealthy Texas was developed to encourage Texas small businesses\, even those with just a few employees\, to offer health insurance as a benefit. With the help of state dollars and the backing of the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI)\, Healthy Texas gives eligible small employers a way to offer health care to their employees. \nMaking health insurance more available to Texas small businesses helps everyone\, because taxpayers and people with insurance indirectly pay for the health care costs of the uninsured. By sharing the costs of health insurance with those small employers that would otherwise be unable to afford coverage\, the State of Texas helps drive down the costs of health insurance for all Texans\, including the taxpayers who support public hospitals and government programs like Medicaid.\nMany Texans without health insurance come from families where at least one person has a job working for a small business.\n\nPresented by Celtic Healthy Texas in partnership with Accion-Texas\, the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce\, and The University of Texas-Pan American Small Business Development Center. Join us and see what plan best fits your company. Plus\, please note that employers qualifying for Healthy Texas must:\n\n- Have between 2 and 50 employees.\n- Not have provided group insurance 12 months prior to Healthy Texas application.\n- Have at least 30 percent of employees receiving annual wages at or below the federal poverty level ($32\,670 in 2011)\n- Sixty percent of eligible employees must enroll with at least one of the employees being under the federal poverty level.\n- The employer must pay at least 50 percent of the premium costs for employees.\n\nDisclaimer: UTPA SBDC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Reasonable arrangements for persons with disabilities will be made\, if requested at least two weeks in advance. Assistance for the hearing impaired can be attained by calling the TDD line at (956) 665-5071.\n\n\nLunch Provided
